Legend Writing Awards Introduction |
|---|
|
The nation-wide Legend Writing Award was launched in 2001. It is organised by Hastings Writers' Group, which, founded in 1947, is one of the longest-running writers' groups in the country. Legend is named after the first and favourite novel of our former patron, the late best selling author David Gemmell. We are grateful to David for his help in setting up this writing competiton, which we are continuing to run in his memory. These awards particularly aim to encourage new writers in the UK. They are for short stories up to 2000 words and flash fiction of 100 words exactly (excluding title). There is no set theme and stories may be any genre/subject with the exception of children’s stories. Poetry and articles are also excluded. This year we are also encouraging young writers, with additional prizes for those aged 15-17 years. Entrants are strongly advised to study the Rules and Conditons of entry carefully before submitting entries. (These can be found here.) Enquiries may be made to legendwritingaward@yahoo.co.uk. |
